Beijing – The Great Wall

As one of the world’s great ancient capitals, and the modern era capital of China, Beijing is a must-see, because it is home to many of the finest icons of China’s imperial and recent past. Standing side-by-side with old Beijing’s crimson palace complexes are the city’s impressive skylines. Beijing is a superb example of the great transformation China has undergone as it burst into the 21st century. Beijing’s travel industry has forged forward after China’s economic reforms in 1978, and the city is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Note: Our sister site and good source of healing information, Chinese Healing Information Exchange provides a forum for you to find out more about the cities we will be visiting.

Chengdu

Coming Soon:

Mount Qingcheng is a famous Taoist mountain near Chengdu, one of the places where Taoism originated. The mountain became UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. The mountain range has 36 peaks, and its tallest peak is Laoxiao Ding, at an elevation of 1,260 meters above sea level. The peaks stand in a circle like an ancient wall protecting a city. Trees grow luxuriantly on the mountains, creating greenery all year round, and giving it the name Qingcheng Shan — ‘green city wall mountains’. You can see the dozens of other temples around, including Jianfugong Temple, Shangqinggong Temple, Zushi Temple, Yuanminggong Temple, Laojunge Temple, Yuqinggong Temple, and Chaoyang Cave.

Wudang

Coming October 2019:

The Wudang Mountains stretch for 800 miles of spectacular scenery with secluded valleys, peaks, rugged hiking and stair climbing. It is mainly famed for its religious history as one of the centers for Taoism, tai chi exercise, and Taoist fighting styles. Now it is a place to hike and sightsee in northern central China. Wudang Mountain has been listed since 1994 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the famous old temples and structures, famous Daoist leaders trained and lived centuries ago.
